Holding Space for our NeighborsJacksonville’s Story of Belonging
Our community is lifted by stories of courage, faith, and resilience. Jacksonville’s story is being written every time a neighbor chooses to listen, to show up, and to hold space for someone whose life looks different from their own. At OneJax, we’re leaning into our role as conveners, bridgebuilders, and changemakers, because listening, showing up, and holding space for one another isn’t just kind—it’s essential.
This month, we invite you to be intentional about holding space for your neighbors. Join us at community events like Black History Month gatherings and interfaith Ramadan dinners — come with an open mind and an open heart. Approach conversations with curiosity, not conviction or conversion — asking more than you assume and listening more than you speak. When we do this together, we help shape a Jacksonville where everyone feels seen, heard, and that they truly belong. |

![]() |
|---|
This annual interfaith iftar is centered on courageous conversations that deepen understanding across differences, proudly presented by Interfaith Jax in partnership with the St. John’s Cathedral and Jacksonville Jewish Center. For ten years, the Interfaith Iftar has created space for people of all faiths—and of no faith—to come together at sunset during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, to break bread, listen deeply, and affirm the dignity of every person. In a time marked by polarization and mistrust, this gathering continues to stand as a testament to what is possible when we have the courage to be curious. Welcome Megan Phelps-Roper, author of Unfollow: A Memoir of Loving and Leaving the Westboro Baptist Church, as our keynote speaker. Her personal journey offers a powerful reflection on the transformative potential of humility, curiosity, and courageous conversation, values that lie at the heart of the Interfaith Iftar. RSVP is required, please see the button below! |
