The Rev. Beverly Dempsey brings more than two decades of pastoral and nonprofit executive leadership to Jacksonville's interfaith moral compass.
An ordained Presbyterian minister (PCUSA) with both an MBA and an MDiv, Rev. Dempsey brings a rare combination of theological depth and executive discipline to OneJax’s mission of building the conditions for belonging across Jacksonville. Her career spans Fortune 500 corporate marketing and banking, executive nonprofit leadership, and parish ministry — including senior leadership roles in the highly complex systems of New York City and Washington, D.C.
Rev. Dempsey also serves as organizing pastor of Mayport Open Table, a new Presbyterian worshiping community in Mayport Village centered on shared meals, food access, and wraparound community support, and she lends her support to helping mission-driven organizations build sustainable development strategies. She locally served Palms Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville Beach and Highlands United Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville and has served in board governance roles including Auburn Theological Seminary, Bloomfield College, Mission House, the Presbytery of New York City, and the Multicultural Network Board of the PCUSA.
Rev. Dempsey holds a deep commitment to civil discourse, multicultural unity, community trust-building, and just hospitality — the kind of practical, relationship-centered leadership OneJax has modeled for more than five decades.
Beverly earned a BA from Goucher College, an MBA from the University of Minnesota, an MDiv from Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York, and is currently contemplating the final phase of her DMin with Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
Beverly and her husband Joe live in Jacksonville with their two youngest children. Their adult children visit Florida from the Mid-Atlantic as often as their own busy lives allow.
