Matt Hartley

Director, Interfaith Programs

Matt Hartley is a leading Interfaith professional in Northeast Florida. Between 2018 and 2023, he was the Director of the University of North Florida Interfaith Center. There, he advised campus leaders on religious diversity and led student Interfaith leadership development.

He is a proud alumnus of UNF and received his M.A. in Religion from the University of Florida, completing a thesis on Muslim Youth growing up in the American South after 9/11.

Matt is a career educator and taught at Sandalwood High School. He launched the school’s AVID college preparatory program, which is now a national model. He also spent 11 years in professional youth, college, and young adult ministry in the Presbyterian and Episcopal Churches.

Matt continues to lead and keynote Presbyterian camp programs and frequently preaches in churches around the community. He also leads Interfaith talks and workshops for various faith communities, civic organizations and businesses. He is a past Board Chair of the Interfaith Center of Northeast Florida and currently sits on Interfaith America’s Higher Education Council.
